Join us for a unique spiritual and cultural journey to rural Lancaster, Pennsylvania. We are hosting a community trip to visit a vibrant spiritual parish located in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country.

 

Purpose of the Trip / የጉዞው ዓላማ

The purpose of this trip is to visit the Meskelebrhan St. George Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church to experience its ancient, traditional liturgical services and vibrant sacred art. This journey also offers an opportunity to observe how this unique parish preserves its centuries-old African Christian heritage while operating in close geographic proximity to Lancaster's historic, traditional Amish community.

የዚህ ጉዞ ዓላማ ጥንታዊና ባህላዊ የቅዳሴ ሥርዓቱን እንዲሁም ደማቅ የተቀደሰ የሥዕለ አድኅኖ ጥበቡን ለመካፈል የመስቀለ ብርሃን ቅዱስ ጊዮርጊስ የኢትዮጵያ ኦርቶዶክስ ተዋሕዶ ቤተ ክርስቲያንን መጎብኘት ነው። ይህ ጉዞ ይህ ልዩ ደብር የዘመናት የአፍሪካ ክርስትና ቅርሱን እንዴት ጠብቆ እንደሚያቆይ ለመመልከት ዕድል የሚሰጥ ሲሆን፣ ይህም በላንካስተር ታሪካዊና ባህላዊ የአሚሽ ማኅበረሰብ አቅራቢያ በሚገኝ መልክዓ ምድር ውስጥ የሚከናወን ነው።

The Meskelebrhan St. George Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church is a real parish located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, a region famous for its historic Amish community. While these two groups maintain completely distinct religious and social lives with no formal connection or communication, their shared geography creates an unexpected visual contrast in the rural landscape. Visitors to the area will notice the striking juxtaposition of ancient African Christian liturgical traditions operating in the same square mileage as traditional Anabaptist horse-drawn buggies and farms. What makes this setting notable is not an interaction between the two, but rather how both independent communities concurrently preserve their deeply traditional, centuries-old sacred heritages within modern rural Pennsylvania.

 

በላንካስተር ፔንሲልቬንያ የሚገኘው የመስቀለ ብርሃን ቅዱስ ጊዮርጊስ የኢትዮጵያ ኦርቶዶክስ ተዋሕዶ ቤተ ክርስቲያን በታሪካዊው የአሚሽ ማኅበረሰብ በሚታወቀው አካባቢ የሚገኝ እውነተኛ ደብር ነው። እነዚህ ሁለት ማኅበረሰቦች ምንም ዓይነት ይፋዊ ግንኙነት ወይም የሃይማኖት ትብብር ሳይኖራቸው ሙሉ በሙሉ የተነጠለ ማኅበራዊና መንፈሳዊ ሕይወት የሚመሩ ቢሆንም፣ በአንድ አካባቢ መኖራቸው በገጠሩ ገጽታ ላይ አስደናቂ የሆነ የባህል ንፅፅርን ፈጥሯል። ወደ አካባቢው የሚመጡ ጎብኚዎች ጥንታዊው የአፍሪካ ክርስትና ሥርዓት የፈረስ ጋሪዎችንና ባህላዊ እርሻዎችን ከሚያዘወትረው የአሚሽ ማኅበረሰብ ጋር በአንድ ክልል ውስጥ ጎን ለጎን ሲኖር የሚታየውን ልዩ ገጽታ ማስተዋል ይችላሉ። ይህንን አካባቢ ለየት የሚያደርገው በመካከላቸው ያለው ግንኙነት ሳይሆን፣ ሁለቱም ማኅበረሰቦች በራሳቸው መንገድ የየራሳቸውን ጥንታዊና የተቀደሰ ቅርስ በዘመናዊቷ ፔንሲልቬንያ ውስጥ ጠብቀው ለማቆየት መቻላቸው ነው።

• Infants / ታዳጊ ሕፃናት: Free (Won't pay / በነፃ - ክፍያ የለውም)

• What is Included / የተካተቱ አገልግሎቶች: The registration cost fully covers your round-trip transportation, traditional shared meals, and an official guided tour of the historic Lancaster Amish Community.
